A True Partnership Delivering Impact in Remote PNG

In one of the most isolated corners of Papua New Guinea’s Western Province, Save Our Supplies and KTF (Kokoda Track Foundation) are demonstrating what genuine partnership looks like in action. Together, we are working alongside local educators, nurses, and health leaders to strengthen both learning environments and frontline healthcare.
This year, Save Our Supplies prepared a shipping container of essential medical goods for Balimo College, a remote nursing school supported by the PNG Sustainable Development Program and implemented by KTF. Balimo College expanded in 2025 with the opening of the Balimo School of Nursing — the first Department of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology (DHERST)-accredited nursing school in Western Province.
The shipment was designed hand-in-hand with local staff and teachers, who helped us understand exactly what their students needed to learn safely and confidently. At the same time, SOS worked with KTF to equip the nearby hospital with medical supplies and clinical equipment, ensuring that the skills students gain in the classroom can be put into practice in a real, functioning facility.
Without this dual investment, students often face a stark reality: they train with high-quality learning resources, only to enter hospitals where those very tools simply don’t exist. By coordinating our efforts, SOS and KTF are bridging this gap—supporting students throughout their journey from learning to clinical practice and strengthening a healthcare system the entire community relies on.
This partnership is helping shape the long-term future of Western Province. By strengthening local capability and creating new pathways for students, we’re contributing to a healthier, more resilient PNG.
