We're on a mission to ensure everyone has access to life-saving medical supplies.
OUR STORY
As a trained nurse, founder Claire Lane knows the high level of care hospitals across Australia provide. Unfortunately, not all our supplies meet these standards.
Thousands of gowns, tools and instruments are discarded every day due to various reasons like expiration dates or small packaging punctures that have little to no effect on performance.
Rather than see these clean and unused supplies go to waste, Claire searched for a solution only to find there wasn't one—so she built it herself.
Save Our Supplies was born to ensure that everyone has access to lifesaving supplies.
OUR IMPACT
Through partnerships with various charities, entire communities in developing countries— without the necessary infrastructure, funding or support—can stock clinics and hospitals with supplies that would have otherwise gone to landfills here in Australia.
We have delivered approximately $5 million worth of free medical supplies to Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Cambodia and Fiji.
We helped establish a new maternity unit in Papua New Guinea and supplied over 10,000 bottles of hand sanitiser to Fijian schools during the COVID-19 crisis.
We saved approximately 20 tonnes per year of clean medical waste destined for landfill. We not only prevented this waste from occurring, but we created a substantial humanitarian benefit and reduced hospital operating costs in the process. Most major hospitals in Brisbane are now partnering with us.
In Australia, we have also redirected our supplies to assist wildlife charities helping animals injured in bushfires.
We are currently assisting One Bridge, a healthcare for the homeless charity, with items such as gowns, gloves, and bandages.
We also supply universities with items used in clinical simulation training for the education of our future doctors and nurses.
And we're only just beginning...
MEET THE TEAM
OUR PARTNERS
With collection bins placed in major hospitals in and around Brisbane, our delivery partners include
Rotary Association’s Donations In Kind
The Rotary Association’s Donations In Kind (DIK) division is our primary delivery partner. DIK delivers our supplies to developing nations such as Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Vanuatu and many more. With DIK’s help we are able to stock primary health clinics, hospitals and small villages in dire need of clean medical supplies.
One Bridge
One Bridge is a doctor and nurse led outreach service providing primary healthcare and complex coordination services for homeless and vulnerable individuals and families. We supply them with items such as bandages, gloves and gowns.
Animal Rescue Collective
During the devastating bushfires around Australia we supplied the Animal Rescue Collective with much needed items to help the vast amount of animals injured in these bushfires.
Griffith University
We supply Griffith University with items for use in their clinical simulation training classes to help educate to next generation of doctors and nurses. We have also presented in their Women In Leadership lunch and taken part in Griffith’s Global Business Challenge 2020.
