Save Our Supplies partners with hospitals across Australia to collect clean, unused medical tools, garments and equipment for communities in need.
Founded in 2012, we send over $1.3M worth of medical supplies each year to vulnerable communities and developing countries such as Papua New Guinea, Cambodia, Ethiopia and the Solomon Islands.
Our Mission
To improve the standard of basic health care for vulnerable communities and people in developing countries and reduce medical waste.
Our Vision
To establish a sustainable collection network for every Southeast Australian hospital by 2025 and ensure everyone can access clean medical supplies.
Our Why
As a registered nurse, our founder Claire witnessed the disposal of clean, unused surplus supplies firsthand.
Rather than see these valuable supplies go to waste, she searched for an alternative solution but couldn’t find one—so she created one herself.
Our Dream
Our primary goal is to expand our collection network to include all major Australian hospitals.
With an extended network, we can distribute more supplies to people in need across the globe and here in Australia, and ensure that surplus medical supplies are not wasted
HOW IT WORKS
With collection bins currently placed in major hospitals in and around Brisbane, we need ongoing support from partners, donors and volunteers, to grow our network.
STEP #1
SOS bins are located outside operating theatres and high-traffic areas to collect clean and unused medical supplies from our hospital partners.
STEP #2
SOS volunteers collect and compile the contents from these bins, sort, itemise, and bag all the supplies and prepare them for distribution.
STEP #3
Our volunteers and delivery partners help us distribute our collected supplies to vulnerable communities and developing countries.
STEP #4
We actively educate and advocate our service, and with the help of our sponsors and donors, can continue to grow our network and impact.
